AdEaters 2010

Went to the Zain Night Of the AdEaters last night at the Avenues. The event sucked and the giveaway baggies sucked too. However, the actual show was great. The showcasing of the best TV ads in the world was great and I really enjoyed it. The best thing was that they had my favorite ad of all time.

Man Invents Talking Sex Robot

Roxxxy, Sex Robot

Roxxy the robot:

  • Can hold intelligent conversations (NASCAR or even Middle East politics).
  • Has five distinct “personalities” to choose from.
  • Is covered with heated soft to the touch silicone skin (material used for prosthetic limbs).
  • Has almost fully functional sex organs.
  • Can climax and simulate an orgasm.

All jokes aside, this is great for the Arab culture. Men and boys can have the ultimate tool to release their built-up-to-the-rim-and-about-to-explode sexual tension. The government could provide discounts for the masses as an attempt to tone down the public harassment, pre-marital sex and most importantly, rape.

I commend this man from New Jersey. Although his intentions might not have been to help people, I’m sure that a good number of the customers will be those that are seeking actually help: sex offenders, addicts, shy men, etc.

Also, I think it’s really interesting that women have inquired about Roxxy as well.

Donkey - حمار

Posted: October 16th, 2008 | Filed under: Kuwait, My Life, World | 3 Comments »

The other day while driving on the highway, I passed by a truck that had a donkey in the back. My first thought was “haha.. a donkey in a truck,” but then I got closer and saw the donkey’s face and it made me feel bad. It was standing under the hot afternoon sun. It got me thinking.

Donkeys are truly the ‘beasts of burden.’ Even their actual names are a burden (I think universally): donkey, ass, حمار , etc. They’re all standard name-calling words! The poor animal has done absolutely nothing but serve humans for hundreds of years without any complaint. This loyal worker was expected to carry or pull unbelievably heavy loads for long distances over long periods of time, be used as a sacrifice to gods, and be a pathetic kiddie ride at carnivals and fairs.

If you look really well, the natural stance of a donkey has its head facing the ground. This makes its eyes look like the saddest you will probably ever see. That is what initially got to me. What’s even worse is that apparently, donkeys are by nature very sweet and friendly.

Related animals like the horse and the mule are much more appreciated and respected when compared to donkeys. Horses are almost like royalty. Well kept horses are bathed, brushed, groomed, and worth a lot of money. Mules are work animals too but also have an attitude that requires caution from their owners. Donkeys are just donkeys. Too bad that they usually go under the radar unnoticed and unappreciated.

That donkey in the truck will surely live a long and busy life. I wish him health and mercy from his owners.

Asian Market

Does anyone know if there’s an Asian Market in Kuwait? Or a place that sells Asian foods like tiny crabs and seaweed crackers and other stuff like that? Sultan Center has a sad selection.

WOW Kuwait TV

I don’t want to make fun (haha), but it’s been a long time since Kuwait TV 1 has made quality content other than the news. I’m at my brother’s apartment and his wife was cruising the channels looking for a series that she doesn’t remember where it reruns. She stopped at one where a guy had a big 20 KD bill stuff on the front of his dishdasha. It was Abdulaziz Al Msalam on his KTV 1 Ramadhan show, Misk O Ambar.

The idea for the episode was genius. It was a commentary on how the Kuwaiti people treat money. The part we stopped at was how women spend large amounts of money on clothes and designer products that look like normal low priced, not cheap, things that are just as good. A female TK bought two jeans that were over a hundred dinars each.

Then there was Elham Fathala, also as a 20 KD bill, with a woman browsing a supermarket. The 20 KD bill was begging her to use her to buy expensive things and made fun of the woman’s clothing. The woman defended herself by saying that her bag was real leather and that she doesn’t care what random people think about her.

The next part was a man that donated a 20 KD bill, Al Msalam, to an old woman that was begging. Later the woman got up and left, with the 20 KD bill telling about the good things that she can do to use the money efficiently. It turns out that the it was a man in womens clothing who even had a nice car with a little boy in it. The 20 KD bill then started yelling at him and telling him that the 20 KD could have been given to a real old woman and other people that truly needed it.

Back at the home of the supermarket lady, the 20 KD was still grilling her to spend but the woman said that she’ll put it her son’s savings box for his future needs like going to college and getting married. The 20 KD went to the savings box where her kids (5 KD, 1 KD, and 1/2 KD) were.

Anyway, my point is that the idea was great and it came at the right time when lots of people are glued to the TV. I don’t know if the program has a smart message to the Kuwaiti people in every episode. I’ll start watching it. It’ll be great if someone records the episodes and puts them online.
