My Most Hated Kuwaiti Stereotypes
1. We suck at traffic rules.
- I gave the finger to a guy (first time to a stranger) who was parked (without his caution lights on) in the right lane of a two-lane road in Salmiya.
2. We are supremely vain. For no reason.
- Do guys really think they’re fly when they spike their bleached hair, wear women’s shades and wear clothing that could blind nuns that have never experienced so much patterns and colors at the same time? Tip: Girls like guys who actually look like guys. Women, shades are worn when there are sunrays shining at you face and not for protection from the lightbulbs of a mall no matter how well lit it is. Makeup and our creative painters are another issue. Also, when you decide to have a “puff” on the top of your head, it would be less cone-head-like if the height of the “puff” is not longer than half the height of your face. All this to attract attention. I guess it works.
3. We are going backwards.
“Kuwait is the worst Gulf nation when it comes to development.”
“No we’re not! Iraq is obviously.”
“Oh so NOW they’re part of the Gulf?”
- Reminds me of when Yemen was entered in the Khalijy Tournament so that Kuwait wouldn’t be last place. Really sad.
4. “3ami iShur6i”
- Refering to our Paris Hiltons who call our “cops” Uncle. WTF. MAJOR WTF. What are you girls SMOKING?!
5. Man-posers.
- No matter how old you are, having peach-fuzz or facial hair doesn’t give you authority over your sisters, young or old. Are you saying your parents are doing a bad job? Sit your ass back down. Respect your sister. And for God’s sake treat other women like your sister too.
6. Get yourself a blow-up doll.
- Maids should come with chastity belts ’cause DAMN. Some of our men (and occasionally women) just don’t understand the concept of “no.” Didn’t your mom tell you that raping someone is BAD? Plus! What kind of father takes his little boy to the brothels in Bahrain?! WTF people!
8. No really, I am a dumbass.
- I have no problem helping people out when it comes to technology, computers and etc. but when the request is to do something is frequent, I usually tell them they should learn how to use the thing so that they wouldn’t need to ask for help all the time. It really pisses me off when they retaliate by saying they are too old and that technology is not for their generation (40-55ish!!). You are not a dumbass. Stop insisting that you are.
9. Your car is not a lounge.
- Pushing your seat back to a sleeping position is not cool. Seeing a pinstripe of the horizon over your steering wheel is not cool. You are not cool. Sit up straight, put your seat belt on and maybe you’ll get let less “wee3 geezi wasekh” looks from girls in other cars.
10. Gizzing.
- Gulf Road and 2nd Ring Road. Oh my God, we need to grow up. The saddest thing is that there are 25-30 year old losers that enjoy do it too. I left Kuwait 5 months after I got my driver’s licence and I don’t get that much gizzing time whenever I get back so I’m really glad I starting to get over it this early. Kuwait needs to find a different popular sport.

Amazing post and soo true!
As a guy myself I feel bad for those you talked about since they had a deficiency in their personality! I also feel bad that there are a lot of people like them around and the minority who are the opposite of what you wrote about are sometimes considered part of “them” and are mistreated!
What also gets me is how guys from other Arab nations come to Kuwait and laugh at those they see in the malls and the people in the malls are so nieve and gullable that they think the tourists consider them fashionablt!
BTW the MP3 is amazing! I know someone here at work who’s like that but the thing is he doesn’t borrow money from other people except his parents! He is not independant at all despite his age! (He’s 30+)

1- Oh dear.. So you normally give the finger to people who are NOT strangers?? I myself have only done it once to an American military caravan of large vehicles who just wouldn’t stop at the red light but just kept on going while OUR side was bullied into stopping when our lights were green!! Although well deserved and I wish I had a sub-machine gun instead of my measly finger… I vowed never to do it again. Just lowers you to the miserable sods’ level.
2- Ah yes.. and don’t you just love the new fashion among veiled girls to have a huge ‘puff’ UNDERNEATH the veil?? For a while I thought the girls had just come out of the beauty salon and had a hairdo somewhere there that they couldn’t ruin… then when I realized that almost ALL of them had ‘alien’ heads and mentioned it to my hubby HE told me that they placed empty yoghurt bins to get that effect.. LLLOOOOOOLL!! I laughed so much.. turned out that he had actually asked someone!
3- Yes.. Kuwait is going backwards because we are falling deeper and deeper into the clutches of Islamists whose major issues are women’s bodies and music. Also, the mass mentality now is ‘grab as much as you can while you can’ starting from the lowliest employee to the highest government authority, including the parliament. Nobody cares about the country as a whole, the economy, the infrastructure, the services or the future. God help us!
4- Didn’t understand that.
5- Right!
6- Also.. if the law was implemented on EVERYONE, and if MP’s and wastah couldn’t weasel dirty criminals right out of police stations then maybe they would think twice before doing it!
7- Couldn’t download it. Will try Firefox later.
8- Ummmm… weellll…. I actually do it because I’m too lazy to try myself sometimes. But then.. nobody’s perfect!
9- Right! And have you seen ‘THE FOOT’??? That’s when a driver’s miserable FOOT is wedged up there between the steering wheel and the dashboard!! Don’t they realize that it makes them look like furless, driving APES??
10- Good for you!!

shorof,
1. well i give the finger sometimes to friends just for fun
i’ve never done it in a negative way.

2. LOOOL i never knew that!!!
3. yeah it sucks. i’m guessing it wasn’t like this 20 years ago..
4. when stupid girls talk to cops for whatever reason (check point, asking a question, being given a ticket, etc..) they call them “3ami ishur6i”.. i’d rather eat my eyeball than call our cops 3ami
5.
6. corruption corruption.. another giant issue.
7. you dont need to download it.. just click on the little purple rectangle to hear the clip..
8. but i’m sure you dont do it for important things like computers and the microwave or the remote control..
9. LOOL i forgot about that one! and their feet are pretty nasty looking too.. yech!
10.

Wow…I think I heart you…nice stuff…
I only have one complaint…#9…you forgot to include the leg up on the seat/dashboard and playin with their toes…yes…i’ve seen it…other than that this is the best thing since sliced bread…
July 15th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
Johnny, yeah shorof addressed that a few comments ago.. but it certainly deserves to be mentioned again.. it is a sad sight
those janky feet..
July 16th, 2007 at 11:11 am
looooooooool you really made me laugh! Ive never been to Kuwait before, but I can exactly imagine what you are saying. I could make such kind of list for Morocco too lol. But you know the most thing I detest must be corruption. If it wasn’t for my family living in Morocco I would probably never ever go there, just because of the corruption that has deep roots. Even garbage men need money, otherwise they will empty everyones bin and leave yours for the flies to have a major party!
Oh and over those girls with yoghurt bins under their veil hahaha they must have got that from the Turkish girls. We call them Camel Humps over here! You would know a girl was Turkish just by the way of her veil. They used to walk like that all the time, but it seems they are over it now.
