In My Four Years Away

I said goodbye to my parents.
I met weird Americans.
I met fun Americans.
I made a Kuwaiti friend.
I took photographs.
I was diagnosed with epilepsy.
I payed bills.
I accidentally ate pork.
I rode the bus.
I overdosed (my medication).
I chatted with cab drivers.
I petted a seeing-eye dog.
I caught fire flies.
I made mistakes.
I was the designated driver.
I danced in the rain.
I road-tripped.
I donated blood.
I was put on probation.
I woke up to sounds of trains.
I rode an ambulance.
I did laundry.
I defrosted the fridge.
I flew over 200 hours.
I made the bed.
I made best friends.
I went to concerts.
I fought with a professor.
I missed family events and funerals.
I turned 19, 20, 21, and 22.
I cried.
I laughed.
I learned.
I lived.

I love this post. I laughed out loud at “defrosted the refrigerator.” The first letter I got from my mom said “Oh no! I just remembered, I never taught you to do laundry! First, you separate the light clothes from the dark. (It was already too late.

Intlxpatr, i can’t tell you how many simple things i had to ask my mom about.. haha.. some of them were even stupid. p.s. i do all my laundry together (colors, darks, lights, whites, jeans) and put them in the colors cycle.. everyone comes out ok!
