Silence
Silence, defined as the absence of sound. Silence does not exist. Even in a state of complete stillness there is always noise. Even tough yoga practitioners hear the blood pumping through their bodies and the busy motion of their breaths as the pounding of their hearts vibrate their ears.
Our thoughts and worries seem to scream in our heads, talking out loud is actually quieter. Silence does not exist as we know it. Perhaps true silence comes after death. Who knows? It could be fact or fiction.
I know of one fact about silence. Fact: Silence is loud.

Complete silence, actually, does exist. Totally insulated sound proof rooms that I believe were (are?) used as a method of torture. As total silence is not the natural order of the world, we are not equipped to handle it. Although normal ‘noisy’ silence, as we know it, is really a blessing at times. Personally, I need at least a couple of hours of it every day in order to function. But that’s just me.

shorof, wow torture? but STILL i don’t think it would be completely silent.. one can still hear the many functions of the body. other than sleep, i don’t have much time to sit still and just relax.. i will make a habit of it though in a few months inshalla..

Didn’t say anything about sitting still or relaxing… just being alone in silence, with no ‘man-made’ sounds such as music, tv, talking, etc. one can be doing anything - even working or focusing on something - but the silence and the solitude for a couple of hours a day will refresh one’s weary spirit

Nothing new with that. Silence represents a relative or total lack of audible sound. An environment with sound below 20 decibels is considered quiet or silent. So, just as you said, silence, by definition, isn’t 100% soundless.
