What Would You Trade?

I was reading USA Today Monday while eating lunch between classes and came across an interesting article. I tore it out incase it wasn’t on their website but I found the article.
Some people are seriously crazy in the head. Fitness magazine surveyed 1,000 women asking them what would they do to instantly be their ideal weight.
Nearly a quarter (23%) would spend a week in jail; 23% would shave their head; 22% would wear a bikini on TV; and 21% would trade 10 years of life, according to the survey of 1,000 women 18 and older. Most (85%) would rather have an extra toe than 50 extra pounds.
I wonder what the results would be like if the survey was for men. Most men don’t care if they’re a bit chunky. And if they did, I don’t think they would go as far as trading 10 years of life. So why is it only women who put what they physically look like as a high priority or importance? Some say that they care about their image because they want to be desired by men (or women). Well don’t men want that too? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
I’m a big girl and have been one for all my life. Up until I was about 19 or 20, my weight has been a big issue for me because I was constantly pressured by my mother. But after numerous losses and gains she finally gave up. She still has hopes though. My attitude has changed since then, I am more relaxed and comfortable with myself and enjoy making fun of and laughing at myself with others. This doesn’t mean I have totally accepted my fatassness, I definitely do want to lose weight. And when I do, it will be because I feel that it is time to do it for myself, and not because my mother is forcing me to.
However, that time has come and hopefully I have enough discipline. My brother got engaged over Winter break (to his longtime friend, and mine!) and they will be getting married, inshalla, after I graduate in the summer I want to look decent for the party. I have a cool six months.
But for the sake of that article, I guess I would be willing to completely pluck my eyebrows and eyelashes to be the ideal weight. That’s as far as I’d go.
How far would you go?

How far would I go? hmm.. I think my current weight is almost perfect though I need to \”gain\” one or two kgs so I don\’t think I\’d trade anything for my current state.
Wishing you all the best for the upcoming months.

I’d rather gaining 60 extra pounds so I can shave my hair and defiantly I will be happy with my special toe! frankly, at that point I won’t care about appearances! plus look at the bright side I will be the “cool chubby bold gal with extra toe”

Just came across this post now while looking for the starac link (which I haven’t found today). I guess I’d go with the head shaving bit.. but DEFINITELY not the eyebrows and eyelashes.. too weird and I don’t think they grow back properly.. When one is 40 or 50 kgs overweight it would make sense to do something drastic for their instant disappearance - the trick is never to allow oneself more than just a few kgs. above one’s ideal weight before taking serious measures to lose them. I know exactly how your mum feels..;-)
