it actually is country-esque.. its from the brokeback mountain soundtrack! the main theme actually..

although i seriously do NOT like twangy country, i do love the brokeback mountain soundtrack (aaaah! guilty pleasure!)

my rock n roll class a couple of semesters back attributed the original non vomit inducing music of the west (country western) is considered to be one of the foundations of rock n roll.. so i do have some appreciation.. but not towards the modern day crap..

ANYWAY, i consider "the wings" to be more of a string musical piece with orchestraic accompanyment and less country..

it is inspired by Blackbird cuz Gustavo said so himself and thats why he named it "the wings," Paul's post-beatles band

if u listen carefully to both a couple of times, u will hear the similar parts..

Can't see any similarity.. not even in mood, spirit, type, etc. Santaolalla's Wings sounds like country music at best, TV movie closing scene score at worst. Nothing at ALL like Blackbird!
