Happy 21

Twenty-one years ago today, I was born. It is my birthday and I will be celebrating it tonight with my friends. But personaly, I will be celebrating my parents.

Instead of celebrating myself, I want to thank my parents for having me and raising me to be the person I am today. Every year was different. There were many good times as well as bad. Each year was a learning experience. Each year was an emotional growth.

To Dad, I want to say that he is by far the greatest man I know. A gentle giant with a soft grip on his daughters. He is a protective man, but would not stand in the way of his children. Because of that, I was the first girl of my father’s family to study in a non-Arab country. He is a loving father who sometimes finds it hard to say “no” to us. Him, is where I get my love of humor and sillyness. We share our creativity, the love of art and big gummy smiles!

To Mom, I want to say that I was wrong about her. In my early teens, I vowed to be her total opposite when I have children. Now, I am positive that all that I do for my children will be based on her ways of raising me. She is also the smartest person I know. Science, literature, history, languages, religion, art and God knows what. Her sharp methods of discipline were usually resented by me but I appreciate the outcome now. Although my friends think it’s weird, I can’t help but think “What would Mom think/do?” whenever I’m about to do certain things.

These guys did good. I believe I am a decent person with good moral values and a clear head. I am ready to face life with what I have. And since I am a work in progress, I still and will forever welcome what they have to give.

We are four children and their job as parents has spanned 27 years and that is a great acheivement.

So today, I celebrate Mom and Dad. Thanks.

P.S. I hope Real Madrid win tonight.

don’t justify their loss, both teams played well and Bayern earned it. What matters is who can pass and we did although we lost 3-2.

    Agool san3aw wizaratkum! :P
