Official WC2006 Mascot
Meet GOLEO VI. The official FIFA World Cup 2006 mascot. All I can say is: what were they thinking? Oh yeah, and let’s not forget Pille the talking football. This mascot is so LAME! I thought it was supposed to be a reflection on Germany and its culture and society, etc. Do they have lions in Germany? I don’t really know but I’m guessing they don’t. A lot of money is spent on the planning and creating these mascots and I just can’t believe they went with this choice. Apparently, the costume was made by the same company that makes the Muppets. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the Muppets (I have the first season of their show on DVD.. haha). But come on! I think the little smilies in the official logo make a better mascot. GOLEO VI and Pille just don’t make any sense.
