u didnt say unique but u said that i have the same opinions of other news sources and other stuff.. which means u expect me to be different than them..

i dont have to prove to u that those are really my opinions.. and theres nothing wrong with me having the same views of others.. it doesnt mean that im not thinking for myself.. i actually choose to think that way because that is me..

and no, in journalism they dont teach us to think for ourself and come to our own conclusions (you dont need an education to be able to do that).. they teach us to report and provide the public with facts and unbiased information so that THEY can form an opinion by themselves..

Listen, I'm sorry, but you are in journalism where they teach you to think for yourself and come to your own conclusions. Now if you did that and the conclusions you've reached sound like most of the books and articles I've read then I deeply apologise.

I never said anything about being unique either I dont know where you got that from, I just mentioned looking over an entire picture and being objective when commenting on something which to me you didnt do...I dont know you and obviously we know this, but I am reading what you wrote, thats you isnt it? That is a little of what I can base my comments on...just as you with me...

But I really don't want to start an arguement because I enjoy the blog and I'm really sorry I commented...apologies lady...

I'm just a teeeeeeeeeeeny weeeeeny late on posting on this entry, but whatever....

I think misguided is a little misguided...but maybe i'm misguided into thinking misguided is misguided...so who is misguided...its quite misguiding...but misguided is....

Anyways....your these thoughts are the usual things I read in most newspapers and articles...no creativity, just regurgetate every opinion to make it seem your own and not even look at the bigger and more detailed picture of the situation going on in our world (And I think i realised why misguided is misguided, he's been watchin too much CNN at that point)....I apologise for the critisism...and sadly i will not post my view because after reading this entry I know I will be attacked...all i can say is try and put 2 and 2 together...look at what caused it and the effect...i'm sure they are teaching you to be objective in Journalism? Anyways...apologies again...

Despite the date (of your article), it provoked a comment.

Notice how in most countries where riots took place, there is no political venting.
It is a sad fact that mobs (like children) cannot accept expressions of counter-argument. I am a Muslim, so I'm not depicting this as an "Islamic" trait - it just isn't. It's crowd psychology. The neo-conservatives are doing it in American media, so did McCarthyists - this is only in contemporary and recent history. Crowds are like that.

Now, there are causes for Muslims' continuous crowd behavior (in our societies). Just think of it - this is what I meant to say here.

The time it took you to question it in your mind. Evaluate whether it is rational (the Cartoons), what your response should be, what impact you hope to derive from such response and finally, whether you actually wish to respond - what's it worth ?

None of the mobs arrived at your conclusion. They must be different!

The Pope's statement, uninformed and highly charged as it was, did not elicit much response - nothing like the cartoons, but coming from such a political figure, I found it more volatile.

Let them say and draw what they will. It will certainly not take away any of Mohammad's revelations (PBUH).

I didn't mean to go on like this.. but your view was refreshing - I'm also not used to blogs.

Snookie-

First, sorry I haven't been by yor blog for so long :)

What you wrote was a very accurate, insightful and mature analysis of a pathetically immature, out of control and hysterical situation. What is happening now is clearly meant to encourage hate and confrontation between the Western and Eastern civilizations and ways of thought which are different in so many ways, but have distinct ideological and peaceful bridges between them. Most of what's happening is politically motivated obviously. But what is so troubling to me, is how destructive the ignorant inflamed emotions of Muslims/Arabs can be. They appear to have absolutely no control over their rationality and reactions as such. Hence, it now makes sense that terrorism would come from them in the eyes of the West. The cartoons were awful. They were repulsive. I was offended. But I loved your article because it reminded us of the spirit of what the Prophet (PBUH) really was: a man of peace and forgiveness in the face of ignorant insult, which could not touch or affect him. He was above it.

We should remember that, when we look at silly drawings drawn by irresponsible men whose own ignorance guided them.

Thanks for posting this :)

Dear Snookie,

Thanks for the article and the link. Good work.

It is easy slip down this slippery path to insanity without thinking about our collective actions.

My little pearl of wisdom is that you can only diagnose clinical psychosis is when a person loses insight.. and cannot recognize that what he is doing is madness.

But more to the point... Why have all these riots occured now.. when infact these were publish in september 2005. Riots 6 months after publishing the cartoons... Odd don't you think.

And don't you find it odd that the countries whose embassies were attacked in Syria and Iran... (lebanon too.. but we know who caused that ;))

The same two countries who just recently are bieng discussed in the UN Security council... great way to divert attention... and make-up a crises of a different kind.

And then we have people (no disrespect) like Jaz... whose sympathies for his religion are hijacked for political causes.

Jazz it may interest you to know that "There are a number of depictions of Mohammed (PBUH), some in very unflattering situations, in Christian churches in Europe, especially Italy. The famous book/poem "Inferno" by Dante makes a very unflattering reference to Mohammed (PBUH) and there are several pieces of artwork depicting Dante's descriptions.

There have been several derogatory or potentially inflammatory usages of Mohammed (PBUH) in American entertainment vehicles, perhaps the most famous being South Park. And last but not least, there is an actual sculpture of Mohammed (PBUH) on the Supreme Court building in Washington, DC."

Perhaps we should boycott the world...

I think any we need a dose of sensible thinking. I am against what is printed.. and it did offend me personally. But we cannot force our values on another country. Maybe Britian should boycott Kuwait for still having the death penalty?

truly,
Misguided
