Fortune Cookie

I had Chinese food yesterday. I thought I deserved some pampering since the day before I had my ftoor at 11:30PM, 5 and a half hours late. Also because I only eat ftoor. No dinner and no s’hoor. So basically I was starving and I felt my stomach started to eat my organs because it gave up on me.

I was given three fortune cookies with my meal (the Chinese man was really nice). I gave two to two trick-or-treaters that stopped by. Dressed in nothing but diapers taped together somehow to fit them. Yes, they were college boys. After a few moments of laughing and chit-chat I told them that all I had to give were these two fortune cookies. Fortunatley, they were extremely excited.

Sorry for that useless babble. Here’s what my fortune cookie said:

Optimists believe we live in the best of worlds and pessimists fear this is true.

At first, I was kinda upset that this really isn’t a fortune statement, but then I thought “hey, this quote is pretty cool.” But I want to know what is meant by “best of worlds.” And why do pessimists fear it? I don’t think pessimists fear anything, they just feel bitter and depressed about life and the things we get out of it. So what’s this fear?

It’s just another way of saying optimists see the glass half full, and pessimists see it half-empty. In other what you make of it.

Most pessmists I’ve met consider themselves to be realists rather than negative people. For the most part, I always believe I’m living a charm life, so it’s difficult for me to be pessmistic about anything.

They fear that its true cause maybe the world we live in is not real. SOme people truly beleive that God put us in this “fake” world to kill time, until it comes the day to pass on. When I heard this, I left the room and never saw that guy again..

William, LOL that was hilarious. :D

McA, yeah but believe it or not, some people look for things to be negative about..

Jay, i see.. that explains a lot :|

Jazz, something similar happened to me.. i was chatting on msn with a guy from school.. we were both first year college students last year and he was bragging about how he druinks and smokes pot and stuff, and how when his girlfriend comes in spring break they will go “all the way”.. i told him inta ma tkhaf min rabek?? and he said “God is just an illusion conjured from the Man.. if God does really exist, i think he’s a selfish b******”.. istaghfurallah.. when he said that, i just blocked and deleted him off my life forever..

I think what it means is that pessimists think that the world sucks, so if that’s the best there is then they have plenty of reason to fear that fact! Personally, I believe this world is great - all things considered - but it’s far from perfect. The next world, however, IS perfect. All the injustice and tyranny of mankind will be punished, and all the forbearance and faith of mankind in the face of tragedy and misfortune will be rewarded. So what does that make me? I’m a consummate optimist, but I don’t think we live in the best of worlds..
