Pet Peeves 2

1. People who constantly complain. No, I do not want to hear your problems ALL the time.
2. Buerocracy. Yesterday, a teller wouldn’t help me unless I walked through the zig-zag path that was made to organize long queues. Nobody else was in the bank except me.
3. People who eat with their mouth open. I was sitting in a lounge and some man, almost 30 years old, was eating French fries and with every ’smack smack smack’, acid was seeping into my stomach. I angrily got up and whisppered something under my breath as I passed by him, causing me to break my fast.
4. People who don’t say ‘thank you’ and just ignore you if you keep the door open for them to pass through. It ruins the whole day for me.
5. My hair.
6. Firedrills. I swear that’ll be the cause of my insanity.
7. Earning something I will not recieve in the end.
8. Software made only for Windows.
9. Girls People who use “Oh my God!” and “like” over 13 times in one sentence.
10. Brothers in total control of their sisters wether they are younger or older. Thank God it doesn’t happen in my house, but it really irritates me when I see it happening (hint: Ramadhan soap operas).

تبرى - نوال

I love this song. It is undeniably my favorite Arabic song of all time. I fell in love with it when I heard the jalsa version of it. For those of you who do not know what a jalsa is, it is basically a live performance of the song done with classical, usually non-electric instruments and the setting of the performance is in the classical Khleeji (Gulf) style. Complete with traditional clothes, furniture, etc. A really raw and very very passionate music session.

I was told by a friend of mine that this song has a story behind it. And that this pain that seeps through Nawal’s voice is true and very real. The story (or rumor) says that Nawal once had a fiance but then he left her for someone else, which crushed and scarred her very deeply.

My understanding of this song, describes a woman so sacrificial of love that it actually hurts listening to her story. She sacrifices her dignity, her physical health, her social health for someone who appears to be ignorant and blind to her feelings. Very sad indeed.

Russian Rhapsody

Here is another banned cartoon from my collection. This one is my favorite of all because this is the one that sparked my interest in these cartoons. I further described it here in an older post.

I love political propaganda when media is used and this is really a great cartoon. I hope you enjoy it and please go to the old post to see more info and read the comments

This isn’t really a banned cartoon but it isn’t shown on prime time hours anymore. I first saw this cartoon during the [adult swim] hours of Cartoon Network, the time when little kids are in bed.

1. Last movie you saw in a theater?
Star Wars: Episode III. Way back in Kuwait in early May. Sad, I know.

2. What book are you reading?
The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes. Currently at page 36. Started reading late August!! Good book but no time!!

3. Favorite board game?
Monopoly. Haven’t played in ages though.

4. Favorite magazine?
MAD. Any magazine with one of my fave people on the cover.

5. Favorite smell?
Hmm.. I don’t have one.

6. Favorite food?
Any Kuwaiti dish that has fish.

Noisiness in my grandmother’s house.

8. Worst feeling in the world?
Oh my God GUILT.

9. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up?
At times like this, I miss that psychotic rooster at our neighbors house back home.

10. Favorite fast food place?
In’n'Out in Los Angeles. Good times.

11. Future child’s name?
Fawaz for the boy and Mya for the girl. But I’m not really planning on having kids.

I would give it to my parents. Then ask to borrow some to get a car.

13. Do you drive fast?
The speed limit if possible. Sometimes you have to pass people though.

14. Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?
Nope.

15. Storms cool or scary?
Cool. But last year there was an insanely scary thunder bolt that made me stay in bed all day too scared to go to class. Haha.

16. What was your first car?
I never owned a car, but the first one I use to drive a lot was a 2004 Grand Cherokee.

17. Favorite drink?
Orange Fanta.

Start a small business.

Yes.

Hmm.. no thanks. I’m staying natural.

Im guessing visiting doesn’t count? Kuwait and Bloomington, IN.

I don’t really care.

SOCCER!! Duh..
