What “Might” Happen

Word of mouth tells me that those against the Women’s Rights movement in Kuwait will arrange a group of their own “women” to be present at the rally scheduled tomorrow in front of the parliment building to protest against, yes AGAINST Women’s Rights. Their own rights. Can you believe it?! There are three possible reasons for this ‘archaic’ (thank you Shorof for adding this word to my vocabulary) situation.

1. These men will FORCEFULLY (possibly in a physical way) tell their wives, daughters, sisters, etc. to go.

2. These women are idiots for denying what is rightfully theirs.

3. And finally, these women will actually be MEN in disguise!!

As you can see, I decided that the third reason seems to be the most logical, if not the most amusing one. So to those of you who will be there at the rally, keep a look out for the opposing side. They might be the first Islamic Extremist tranvestites you will ever see!

    I love your cartoon :)

Women are opposing women on this issue because of misinformation and apathy and it is not only religious/traditional ones as you may think.

Unfortunately many women are resigned and hold stereotypes they can’t shake.

Hopefully tomorrow will make a difference.

    Dear Snookie
    Cool Cartoon
abt (Islamist dressing in drag) they do it all the time. After the terrorist bombing in Q8 most them escaped wearing 3abaya and niqab(no shame very cowardly) so I wont be surprised if they did the same in the rally

    How Convenient

  8. - snookie - Says:

wow.. i did not know that mosan..

so there actually IS a chance they’ll do it today..

  9. geo Says:

There were no anti-women’s rights people present at the rally. It was good - not great but quite good as a start. I couldn’t tell how many we were, men and women, but I’d guess a few hundred. We were across the street from the parliament building, spilling out on to the street and eventually crossing to the actual building. They did not want us to attend the session but after a while they conceded and we were allowed in, minus any posters, placards, etc. which was OK. We were told that any applause or booing was strictly forbidden, which made sense to me because for one we were there to listen to what would be said and two we were observers not members in that body therefore we have no right to speak publicly within its walls. Sooooo… we went in, sat down and within less than 30 minutes there was applause. The speaker warned that at the next outburst the session would be adjourned for 15 minutes and the public turned out.. which happened just a few minutes later. It was extremely frustrating to see that those people could not abide by even the most basic rules of the democratic process!! However, this is just one step and we are not going anywhere.. we’re here to stay and speak out and demand our rights until we get them, no matter how long it takes or how hard it is. Cheers!
P.S. Snookie.. your cartoon was photographed by just about every single person who had a camera today - journalist or private - so don’t be surprised if you see it in some TV or newspaper coverage later today or tomorrow :)
